A passion that comes from afar.<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Five generations, the same Maremma. From the first farm bought in Campagnatico to the fresh start after the frost of 1985.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Late nineteenth century<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Great-great-grandfather Ciriaco Guerrini, who lives in Florence, chooses Maremma and buys land with farmhouses around Campagnatico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cereals and olives are grown, part of the land raises livestock, and the farms are run by sharecroppers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The mill in the village<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Great-grandfather Aroldo expands the land, plants more olive trees and opens the mill in the village. Grandfather Alberto then helps the farm grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trade was not global, and making a product known from a small town in the wild Maremma was hard.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The frost of 1985<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The great frost of 1985 drops the temperature to \u221223 \u00b0C and 90% of the trees die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is time to start again: Giovanni, our father, decides that the hills will turn silver olive again.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The olive tree takes time.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is a plant that accompanies generations and outlives them in memory. It needs care and attention, and time: at least ten or fifteen years before it bears fruit, twenty to reach maturity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

20,000 trees, with a farmhouse that hosts the farm stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
